
Herlin Riley Quartet featuring Erica Falls and Tonya Boyd-Cannon
Herlin Riley, a New Orleans native, is an outstanding and accomplished drummer inspired by his native city. He has played in ensembles with legendary musicians Ahmad Jamal and Wynton Marsalis. His authoritative style of melodic percussion is deeply imbued in the fertile creative soil of the Crescent City, encompassing as it does the entire length and breadth of America’s ongoing musical journey. On June 10th, he will be performing with his quartet, featuring Erica Falls and Tonya Boyd-Cannon.
Erica Falls, a New Orleans soul singer, and songwriter, credits her unique vintage soul sound to her childhood growing up in New Orleans’ 9th Ward. She has recorded and performed with icons including Grammy®-winner Allen Toussaint, Sting, No Doubt, Joe Sample, Dr. John, Jennifer Hudson, Galactic, and John Fogerty. In 2013, she was hand-picked by Lee Daniels to star in the lead singing role of the award-winning film Lee Daniels The Butler.
Tonya Boyd-Cannon, a Mississippi-born, Louisiana-raised singer-songwriter, has a distinctive style that radiates unmistakable confidence and passion with a repertoire spanning almost all genres. She has received much critical praise, including ranking in the Top 20 on the show The Voice. She has performed at many at Jazz Fest, Essence Music Festival, Alabama’s Bayfest, and has opened for artists such as Anthony Hamilton.
